Wade Wilson, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, is the central character in the film adaptations Deadpool and Deadpool 2. These movies are based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.
Wilson is a former Special Forces operative who works as a mercenary. After being diagnosed with terminal cancer, he undergoes a radical experimental treatment in an attempt to gain regenerative abilities and survive. This treatment is facilitated by Ajax (Francis Freeman).
The procedure, while ultimately successful in granting him an accelerated healing factor, leaves Wilson severely scarred and disfigured.
