Thor, as portrayed by Chris Hemsworth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a key figure in the events leading up to and including Infinity War. He is the Asgardian God of Thunder and a founding member of the Avengers.

Thor's MCU journey begins in the film Thor (2011) where he is banished to Earth by his father, Odin, to learn humility. He gradually matures from an arrogant prince into a noble hero, dedicated to protecting both Asgard and Earth.

In Infinity War, Thor plays a crucial role in attempting to defeat Thanos. Following the destruction of Asgard, he seeks a powerful weapon capable of stopping the Mad Titan. His quest leads him to Nidavellir where he forges Stormbreaker, a weapon capable of challenging the Infinity Gauntlet.

Though Thor arrives on Earth during the battle of Wakanda and deals a significant blow to Thanos, he ultimately fails to prevent the snap that wipes out half of all life in the universe. This failure profoundly impacts his character moving forward in the MCU.
