Deadpool is a Marvel Comics character primarily known for his appearance in the 2016 film Deadpool and its sequel. The character, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, is a mercenary with a heavily scarred and deformed appearance due to an experimental regenerative healing factor.
Prior to receiving the healing factor, Wade Wilson, the man who would become Deadpool, was a Special Forces operative diagnosed with terminal cancer. He volunteered for the Weapon X program, hoping the experimental treatment would cure him. The treatment worked, granting him accelerated healing but also leaving him disfigured.
