Biography:
Drax the Destroyer, as portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy known for his literal interpretations and lack of social awareness.
Born Arthur Douglas, his family was attacked by Ronan the Accuser on the orders of Thanos. To combat Thanos's rising power, the being Kronos transferred Douglas's soul into a powerful humanoid body, creating Drax the Destroyer. His primary motivation is revenge against Thanos for the murder of his family.
Physically imposing and incredibly strong, Drax is a formidable warrior despite his often-misguided attempts at humor and his struggle to understand metaphors. He struggles to express emotion beyond anger. He's intensely loyal to his friends and determined to protect the innocent.
Drax's first appearance in the MCU was in the film Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), where he joins forces with Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot to prevent Ronan from destroying Xandar.
