Supergirl, as portrayed in the CBS/The CW television series set on Earth in the Arrowverse, is Kara Zor-El. She is Superman's Kryptonian cousin, sent to Earth to protect him as a child.
Her pod was knocked off course, trapping her in the Phantom Zone for years. She arrived on Earth much later, finding Superman already established as a hero. Initially hiding her powers, she eventually embraces her destiny and becomes Supergirl.
She first appeared in the TV Show *Supergirl* (CBS, October ) which later moved to The CW.
She works with the Department of Extranormal Operations (DEO) to protect National City from various threats, balancing her superhero life with her identity as Kara Danvers, a reporter.
