Mr. Freeze is a DC Comics supervillain, primarily known as an adversary of Batman. Originally appearing as "Mr. Zero" in Batman #121 (February 1959), he was later revamped and renamed Mr. Freeze.

In The Lego Batman Movie, Mr. Freeze is portrayed as one of Batman's many rogues. His character is presented in a comedic light, retaining his cold-themed abilities and motivations, but fitting into the humorous and over-the-top style of the movie.

Typically, Mr. Freeze's origin involves Dr. Victor Fries, a cryogenics expert who sought to cure his terminally ill wife, Nora. An accident during his research drastically lowers his body temperature, forcing him to wear a cryogenic suit to survive. Driven by his love for Nora and a desire to reverse his condition, he often resorts to criminal activity, wielding ice-based weaponry and exhibiting a cold, calculating demeanor.
