Dr. Victor Fries, also known as Mr. Freeze, is a DC Comics character. He debuted as "Mr. Zero" in Batman #121 (February 1959).
Fries was a cryogenics expert who tragically fell into a vat of super-cooling chemicals. To survive, he must wear a special suit that keeps his body at sub-zero temperatures.
His motivation often revolves around his terminally ill wife, Nora, whom he keeps cryogenically frozen in hopes of finding a cure. His criminal activities are frequently driven by the need to fund his research and keep Nora alive. He is a major villain in Batman's Rogues Gallery.
