Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, better known as Poison Ivy, is a prominent villain in the DC Comics universe. Her first appearance was in Batman #181 (1966).
Originally a promising botany student, Isley was seduced and experimented on by her professor, Dr. Jason Woodrue. These experiments irrevocably altered her physiology, granting her toxic blood, a deadly touch, and an immunity to all poisons, toxins, bacteria, and viruses. The modifications also gave her control over plant life.
Driven mad by Woodrue's betrayal and her transformation, Isley adopted the alias of Poison Ivy and embarked on a criminal career in Gotham City. Her motives often revolve around protecting plant life and punishing humanity for its environmental crimes. She's frequently portrayed as an eco-terrorist, willing to use deadly force to achieve her goals.
