Dr. Pamela Isley, known as Poison Ivy, is a prominent character in DC Comics, particularly within the "New 52" continuity. A brilliant botanist, Isley underwent a radical transformation, injecting herself with plant-based toxins and gaining control over plant life.
This process not only granted her the ability to control and manipulate plants, but also made her skin toxic to the touch. She is immune to all poisons and toxins, and also possesses the ability to secrete pheromones which control the minds of people around her.
As Poison Ivy, she is frequently portrayed as an eco-terrorist, fiercely protective of plant life and willing to use extreme measures to defend it against humanity's destructive tendencies. Her first appearance was in Batman #181 in June 1966. Her relationships with other characters, notably Harley Quinn, have further explored the complexities of her character beyond a simple villainous portrayal.
