Baby Groot is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing in the 2017 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He is a younger version of Groot, a sentient tree-like being.

Following Groot's sacrifice at the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, a sapling was recovered and nurtured. This sapling grew into Baby Groot, retaining some memories of his previous form, but possessing the behavior and maturity of a toddler.
