Biography:

Hobgoblin is a villainous identity adopted by several characters in Marvel Comics, primarily associated with Spider-Man. The original Hobgoblin first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #238 (March 1983).

The first and most well-known Hobgoblin is Roderick Kingsley, a ruthless fashion designer who stumbled upon one of Norman Osborn's secret Goblin hideouts. Kingsley enhanced himself with the Goblin Formula, granting him superhuman strength, speed, and intellect. He then donned a modified version of the Green Goblin's costume, becoming the Hobgoblin.

Several others have held the Hobgoblin mantle, including Ned Leeds (brainwashed by Kingsley), Jason Macendale (who became the Demogoblin after a demonic merging), and Phil Urich. Each successor contributed different levels of threat and altered the Hobgoblin's motivations and tactics.
