Erik Killmonger, born N'Jadaka, is a Wakandan exile and the main antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, *Black Panther* (2018), his first appearance.
He is the son of Prince N'Jobu, the younger brother of Wakandan King T'Chaka. N'Jobu was killed by T'Chaka after betraying Wakanda, leaving young Erik orphaned in Oakland, California. Fueled by resentment and a desire for revenge, Erik adopts the name Killmonger and becomes a highly skilled soldier and strategist.
Killmonger returns to Wakanda to challenge T'Challa for the throne, seeking to use Wakanda's advanced technology to empower oppressed people of African descent around the world and overthrow existing power structures. Though ultimately defeated by T'Challa, Killmonger's actions force Wakanda to reconsider its isolationist policies and embrace a more active role in global affairs.
