Erik Killmonger, portrayed by Michael B. Jordan, is a major antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Black Panther (2018). His first appearance is in this film.
Born N'Jadaka in Oakland, California, Killmonger is the son of Prince N'Jobu, brother to Wakandan King T'Chaka. N'Jobu was stationed undercover in America but betrayed Wakanda's isolationist policies, believing they should use their advanced technology to liberate people of African descent globally.
After T'Chaka killed N'Jobu, leaving Erik orphaned, Killmonger harbored deep resentment towards Wakanda. He became a highly skilled black ops soldier, earning the name "Killmonger." He returned to Wakanda to challenge T'Challa for the throne, seeking to weaponize Wakandan technology to incite a global revolution against those who oppressed people of color.
Ultimately, Killmonger is defeated by T'Challa, but his ideals spark a change in Wakanda's foreign policy, leading them to open up to the world and offer aid to those in need. He dies after refusing Wakandan medical aid, choosing to die a free man rather than be imprisoned.
