Battle Monkey King, also known as Sun Wukong, is a central character in the LEGO Monkie Kid series. He is based on the legendary figure from the classic Chinese novel, Journey to the West.
In the LEGO universe, Battle Monkey King is the powerful, immortal Monkey King who was once imprisoned beneath a mountain. He is released, or alternatively, awakens, and chooses MK (Monkie Kid) as his successor to wield the legendary staff, Ruyi Jingu Bang, and protect the world from evil.
He acts as a mentor and guide to MK, training him in combat and teaching him about the importance of responsibility and using his powers for good. Though often portrayed as wise and powerful, Battle Monkey King also exhibits a mischievous and sometimes carefree personality, reflecting aspects of the original Monkey King character. He retains all of his original powers, including transformation, super strength, and cloud surfing, making him a formidable ally.
