Luke Skywalker, portrayed by Mark Hamill, first appeared in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. He is a central figure in the Skywalker saga.
In Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, Skywalker is a disillusioned recluse living on the remote island of Ahch-To. Haunted by his past failures in training Kylo Ren, he has severed himself from the Force and the galaxy's struggles.
Reluctantly, he is found by Rey, who seeks his guidance to combat the First Order. While initially resistant, Skywalker eventually imparts wisdom and helps Rey in her journey. Ultimately, he uses his connection to the Force to project himself across the galaxy, buying time for the Resistance to escape.
This act of immense power drains him, leading to his death, as he peacefully fades into the Force, becoming one with it.
