Ultraman Jack, also known as New Ultraman, is the fourth entry in the Ultra Series, debuting in the 1971-1972 show Return of Ultraman. He is a member of the Inter Galactic Defense Force from Nebula M78, Land of Light, on the Ultraman homeworld.
Jack is unique for not initially having a clear distinct identity before bonding with a human host. He merges with Hideki Go, a brave young race car driver who sacrifices himself to save a child from a monster attack. Moved by Go's courage, Ultraman revives him and they become one, allowing Jack to fight kaiju on Earth.
Ultraman Jack doesn't possess a Color Timer on his chest at the beginning. This visual detail is gradually phased in as the show progresses. His signature weapon is the Ultra Bracelet, an incredibly versatile artifact that can transform into various weapons like a spear, shield, and cutter. He is known for his powerful Specium Ray, similar to Ultraman, and represents a balance of strength and bravery in defense of Earth.
