Ray Palmer, known as the Atom, is a prominent character in DC Comics, deeply involved with the Lantern Corps. While he is more famously associated with shrinking technology, his connection to the Indigo Tribe provides a unique facet to his history.
His formal introduction into the Indigo Tribe occurred in *Green Lantern* vol. 4 #55 (2010) during the "Blackest Night" storyline. During this crisis, the various Lantern Corps were threatened by Nekron and his Black Lanterns. To bolster their forces, Indigo-1 utilized her indigo power rings to temporarily induct heroes into the Indigo Tribe, forcing them to feel compassion and serve as deputies.
Ray Palmer was one such individual, becoming a member of the Indigo Tribe temporarily. As an Indigo Lantern, he wielded the indigo light of compassion, though it was a state imposed upon him rather than a permanent choice. After the 'Blackest Night' storyline ended, Ray Palmer was freed from Indigo-1's ring, and he returned to his life as a superhero without the power of the Indigo Lanterns.
