Raymond "Ray" Palmer, known as Atom, is a superhero within the Arrowverse television franchise on The CW. He's portrayed by actor Brandon Routh.
Ray Palmer is a brilliant scientist and inventor who develops a powerful exosuit that grants him the ability to shrink to minuscule sizes, hence the moniker "Atom." Initially introduced as a recurring character on the TV show *Arrow* during its third season, Ray Palmer becomes a love interest for Felicity Smoak and aids Team Arrow with his technology.
Ray's first appearance is in *Arrow*, Season 3, Episode 3, titled "Corto Maltese". Following his initial appearances on *Arrow*, Ray Palmer becomes a core member of the time-traveling superhero team in *Legends of Tomorrow*. In *Legends of Tomorrow* Season 1, Ray travels through time and experiences unique situations.
