Biography:
Hulk, in the World War Hulk storyline, is a vastly powerful and enraged version of Dr. Bruce Banner's gamma-irradiated alter ego. He's driven by betrayal and seeks retribution.
Following the events of Planet Hulk, where he was tricked and exiled by the Illuminati (a cabal of Earth's heroes including Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Dr. Strange, and Black Bolt) onto the savage planet Sakaar, Hulk conquered the planet and found love and a family.
When his spaceship explodes, killing his wife, Caiera, and countless others, Hulk believes the Illuminati are responsible. Consumed by grief and rage, he returns to Earth with his Warbound, a team of loyal Sakaaran warriors, to exact his revenge.
World War Hulk depicts Hulk as a virtually unstoppable force, possessing strength and durability far exceeding his usual levels. He systematically defeats the Illuminati members and their allies, holding them accountable for their perceived transgressions.
Ultimately, the conflict forces Banner to confront the darkness within himself, leading to a destructive showdown with Sentry, a hero of comparable power, before being subdued.
