Adrian Toomes, known as the Vulture, is a recurring adversary of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics. Toomes is an elderly electrical engineer and businessman who, embittered by being swindled out of his share of a company he founded, crafts a special harness that grants him the power of flight and enhanced strength.
The harness uses electromagnetism to propel Toomes through the air, enabling him to soar at high speeds and engage in aerial combat. Originally, the harness also granted him extended youth for limited periods of time, making him a physical match for Spider-Man.
As the Vulture, Toomes initially turns to petty crime and revenge, using his aerial abilities to rob banks and harass his former business partners. He often operates solo but has also been a member of various villainous teams, notably the Sinister Six, dedicated to defeating Spider-Man.
