Dr. Curtis "Curt" Connors is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics, most notably as the reptilian villain, the Lizard.
Connors was a gifted surgeon who served in the military. During wartime, he sustained a severe arm injury, leading to amputation. Driven by a desire to regenerate his lost limb, Connors became obsessed with reptilian biology, specifically their regenerative capabilities.
He developed an experimental serum derived from reptile DNA. Despite warnings, Connors injected himself with the serum, hoping to regrow his arm. While the serum was initially successful, he gradually transformed into a monstrous, reptilian humanoid, the Lizard.
As the Lizard, Connors possesses superhuman strength, speed, and agility, along with a powerful tail and sharp claws. His intellect diminishes, and he often acts on primal instincts, posing a significant threat to New York City and becoming a frequent adversary of Spider-Man. Connors struggles with controlling his transformations and often battles his Lizard persona to regain control.
