Luke Cage (Earth-90214), also known as Power Man, is a resident of the grim and gritty reality within the Spider-Verse known as Noir. This version of Cage is a complex figure operating in 1930s Harlem, New York City.
Born Carl Lucas, his path diverged significantly from his more mainstream counterpart. Imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, Lucas was subjected to horrific medical experiments led by Dr. Noah Burstein and a criminal known as "Hammerhead".
Instead of receiving superhuman strength and unbreakable skin through an advanced bio-chemical process, this experiment gave Lucas enhanced durability and some increased physical strength, but more importantly it made his skin extremely tough. Upon his release, Lucas took on the name Luke Cage and established himself as a protector of the innocent, utilizing his newfound abilities and street smarts to combat the criminal underworld.
Unlike the mainstream Luke Cage, Noir Cage often operates on the fringes of the law himself, employing brutal methods to achieve his goals. He allies with other Noir heroes like Spider-Man Noir to fight organized crime and corruption that plagues his world.
