Ghost Rider is a supernatural antihero appearing in Marvel Comics. The character's first appearance was in Marvel Spotlight #5 (August 1972) in the comic books.
There have been multiple Ghost Riders over the years, each bonded with a Spirit of Vengeance. A common origin involves a deal with a demonic entity to save a loved one.
The most recognizable Ghost Rider is arguably , Johnny Blaze. He made a deal with Mephisto to save his adoptive father's life, binding him to the demon Zarathos. When in proximity to evil, Blaze transforms into Ghost Rider, a skeletal figure wreathed in hellfire, riding a fiery motorcycle.
Ghost Rider possesses immense superhuman strength, durability, and the ability to manipulate hellfire. His signature weapon is a chain, which he can control telekinetically and imbue with hellfire. He also has the Penance Stare, which forces wrongdoers to experience the pain they have inflicted on others.
