Blade, also known as Eric Brooks, is a Dhampir – a human born with vampire-like abilities – in the Marvel Universe. His first appearance was in Tomb of Dracula #10 in 1973.
Blade's mother was attacked by the vampire Deacon Frost while pregnant, imbuing him with superhuman strength, speed, and senses, along with near-immortality and immunity to vampire bites. He is a master martial artist and swordsman, specializing in weapons designed to kill vampires.
