Biography:
Zoom, primarily known as Hunter Zolomon, is a supervillain appearing in DC Comics publications. He possesses the ability to manipulate time relative to himself, granting him superhuman speed.
Hunter Zolomon first appeared as Zoom in *The Flash* (vol. 2) #197 (2003). Prior to becoming Zoom, Zolomon was a police profiler and friend of the Flash (Wally West), suffering a tragic injury during an attack. He attempts to use the Cosmic Treadmill to prevent his injury but is imbued with his powers after failing in his attempt.
As Zoom, Zolomon's warped perspective leads him to believe that the Flash can only become a better hero by experiencing personal tragedy, thus making him a formidable adversary. He views himself as a necessary evil, pushing the Flash to his limits.
