Biography:
Zoom, primarily known as Hunter Zolomon, is a recurring villain in DC Comics, primarily associated with the Flash. He first appeared in The Flash: Secret Files and Origins #3 in November 2001.
Zolomon was initially a police profiler allied with the Flash (Wally West). After an attack by Gorilla Grodd left him paralyzed, he desperately sought the Flash's help to travel back in time and prevent the incident. Refused, Zolomon attempted to use the Cosmic Treadmill himself.
The attempt resulted in an explosion that granted him the ability to alter his personal timeline, essentially moving at superhuman speeds. Believing that the Flash could only become a better hero through personal tragedy, Zolomon adopted the persona of Zoom to inflict such pain, becoming a dangerous and ideological adversary.
