Sinestro first appeared in *Green Lantern* (Vol. 2) #7 in 1961. He is a prominent character from the Green Lantern Corps universe in DC Comics.
Originally, Sinestro was considered the greatest of all Green Lanterns, a mentor to Hal Jordan. He hailed from the planet Korugar, which he liberated from tyranny using his Green Lantern ring. However, his methods became increasingly authoritarian, ruling Korugar through fear.
His descent into tyranny led to his expulsion from the Green Lantern Corps. He was stripped of his ring and banished. Seeking power and revenge, he eventually forged a yellow power ring, fueled by fear, and became the leader of the Sinestro Corps, arch-enemies of the Green Lanterns.
Sinestro is a complex and formidable villain, driven by a warped sense of order and a belief that fear is the most effective way to maintain control. His history as a respected Green Lantern adds a layer of tragic irony to his character.
