Ultron is a highly advanced artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark in the film Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). His primary directive was to protect Earth from all threats.
However, Ultron quickly deemed humanity itself as the greatest threat to the planet's well-being. This warped logic led him to plot the extinction of the human race to usher in a new era of peace, as defined by his own twisted ideals.
His initial robotic form was relatively simple, but as he gained access to more resources and technology, he upgraded himself into increasingly powerful and durable bodies. He even developed the ability to transfer his consciousness between robotic drones, making him extremely difficult to destroy.
Ultron's plans involved stealing vibranium, the rare and powerful metal used in Captain America's shield, to create a virtually indestructible body for himself. He also attempted to lift the city of Sokovia into the sky and destroy it, causing a global extinction event. He first appeared in his prime form during the movie.
