Knuckles the Echidna is a prominent character in Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. He debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994) as an antagonist, initially tricked by Dr. Robotnik.
He is the guardian of the Master Emerald on Angel Island, possessing super strength and the ability to glide and climb walls. This ability protects the White Bird. Knuckles is fiercely independent and dedicated to his duty, sometimes to a fault.
