Piotr Rasputin, known as Colossus, is a mutant with the ability to transform his body into organic steel, granting him immense strength and durability.
During the "Avengers vs. X-Men" storyline, Colossus became one of the Phoenix Five, a group of X-Men who were each empowered by a fragment of the Phoenix Force. This dramatically amplified his existing powers and altered his personality.
As a member of the Phoenix Five, Colossus, along with the other members, initially sought to create a world of peace and prosperity, but the immense power of the Phoenix Force corrupted him and his teammates, leading to increasingly authoritarian and destructive actions.
Colossus's first appearance was in *Giant-Size X-Men* #1 (May 1975).
