Obito Uchiha is a major character in the anime series Naruto Shippuden. He first appears in a flashback in episode 32, though his true identity and significance are not revealed until later in the series.

Initially portrayed as a well-meaning but somewhat clumsy member of Team Minato alongside Kakashi Hatake and Rin Nohara, Obito's life takes a tragic turn during the Third Shinobi World War. He seemingly sacrifices himself to save Kakashi, with half of his body crushed by a boulder.

However, Obito is rescued by Madara Uchiha and nursed back to health. Witnessing Rin's death at Kakashi's hand warps Obito's perspective, leading him to believe that reality is flawed and to embrace Madara's plan for a world of illusion. He adopts the identity of Tobi and becomes a primary antagonist, manipulating events from behind the scenes to instigate the Fourth Shinobi World War.

Obito's motivations stem from his desire to create a perfect world where Rin is still alive. His actions have profound consequences for the entire ninja world.
