Shin Kazamatsuri is the tragic protagonist of the 1992 film Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue, also known as True Masked Rider: Prologue. He is a scientist working for the ISSIS (International Super Secret Intelligence Service) organization.
Shin becomes an unwilling subject in a genetic experiment designed to create Neo-Lifeform soldiers. He is transformed into a grotesque, insect-like cyborg known as the "Masked Rider." This transformation grants him enhanced strength, agility, and regenerative abilities, but at the cost of his humanity and normal life.
Unlike many other Kamen Riders, Shin lacks a Rider belt or traditional armor. His monstrous appearance and violent nature are a stark departure from the heroic image of previous Masked Riders. He grapples with his monstrous form and struggles to protect those he cares about while pursued by ISSIS, who now consider him a dangerous liability. He first appeared in the movie of the same name.
