Kotaro Minami is the protagonist of the tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Black and Kamen Rider Black RX. He is portrayed by Tetsuo Kurata.
Born on the day of a solar eclipse, Kotaro was kidnapped as a child along with his stepbrother, Nobuhiko Akizuki, by the Gorgom cult. They were surgically altered to become candidates for the next Gorgom Creation King. Kotaro, designated Black Sun, escaped before brainwashing, retaining his free will.
As Kamen Rider Black, Kotaro fights against Gorgom to protect humanity and prevent Nobuhiko, who became Shadow Moon, from fulfilling his destiny as the next Creation King.
In Kamen Rider Black RX, Kotaro's King Stone is shattered by the Crisis Empire, forcing him to evolve into Kamen Rider Black RX, possessing new powers and forms, to combat the invading threat and defend Earth.
