Shinnosuke Tomari is the protagonist of the Kamen Rider Drive series. He is a former elite police officer within the Metropolitan Police Department's Special Crimes Division. A traumatic event involving the Roidmudes, sentient artificial lifeforms wreaking havoc, caused him to lose his motivation and develop a sense of guilt, leading to his reassignment.
Tomari is chosen by the Drive Driver and the sentient Tridoron vehicle to become Kamen Rider Drive. Initially reluctant, he gradually embraces his role as a hero, driven by a desire to protect the innocent and atone for his past failures. He works alongside Kiriko Shijima and the members of the Special Investigation Unit to combat the Roidmudes' escalating threat.
As Kamen Rider Drive, Tomari utilizes the Shift Cars, miniature vehicles that grant him different combat abilities and forms. Throughout the series, he grows as a person, overcoming his emotional burdens and reaffirming his commitment to justice. He learns to rely on his allies and develops a strong bond with the Tridoron, his mechanical partner in fighting evil.
