Dick Grayson, known as Nightwing, is a prominent character in the DC Comics universe. He first appeared as Robin in Detective Comics #38 (1940).

Originally Batman's first sidekick, Robin, Grayson eventually outgrew the role and sought to establish his own identity as a hero. Choosing the name Nightwing, he operated independently while maintaining strong ties to the Batman Family and the larger DC superhero community.
