The Wooden Cyberman is a unique and unsettling variant of the Cybermen who appeared in the 2013 Doctor Who episode "Nightmare in Silver". It is not a standard design or planned upgrade by the Cybermen themselves, but rather an accidental creation.

The origin of the Wooden Cyberman stems from rapid Cyberman evolution facilitated by nanobots. These nanobots, after a period of rapid upgrading and adaptation, began to utilise the environment for conversion. In this specific instance, they assimilated wood from the Hedgewick's World of Wonders amusement park, leading to the creation of Cybermen with wooden exoskeletons.

This makeshift adaptation made the Wooden Cyberman a somewhat primitive and unstable version, lacking the usual metallic rigidity and advanced technology of their counterparts. Although still exhibiting the ruthlessness and desire for conversion characteristic of all Cybermen, their wooden construction represented a significant vulnerability.

Essentially, the Wooden Cyberman highlights the terrifying potential for the Cybermen to adapt and convert using almost any available material, showcasing the ever-present threat they pose throughout the universe.
