Biography:
The Cybermen are a recurring antagonist in the British science fiction television series, Doctor Who. They are a race of cybernetically augmented humanoids originating from Earth's twin planet, Mondas.
Driven by a survival imperative, the Mondasians gradually replaced their organic components with metal and plastic parts, eliminating emotions in the process. This evolution, intended to preserve them from the dying Mondas, resulted in a cold, logical species dedicated to converting other beings into Cybermen.
Cybermen are typically depicted as silver-clad figures with a monotone voice and a distinct lack of empathy. Their primary goal is "upgrading" or "converting" other lifeforms, believing it is the only way to ensure their survival and achieve a perceived state of perfection. They see emotions and individuality as weaknesses that hinder progress.
Throughout Doctor Who's history, the Cybermen have undergone numerous redesigns, but their core characteristics – a reliance on cybernetic implants, emotionless logic, and a desire for universal conversion – have remained consistent, solidifying their place as one of the Doctor's most persistent and terrifying foes.
