The Cybermen from Cybus Industries, a parallel universe version of the classic Doctor Who villains, first appeared in the Series #1 two-part episode "Rise of the Cybermen"/"The Age of Steel" (2006). They are created by the ruthless inventor John Lumic, who seeks to preserve humanity by transferring their brains into robotic exoskeletons.
Unlike other Cybermen, who originate on the planet Mondas, these Cybermen are Earth-based, manufactured en masse in Lumic's factory. They are distinguished by their more angular and metallic design. They are controlled via a network and programmed with Lumic's extreme vision of order.
The Cybus Cybermen are characterized by their relentless drive for conversion, seeking to upgrade all of humanity into emotionless Cyber-beings. Despite their technological superiority, they exhibit vulnerabilities, primarily regarding emotion and individuality, which are used against them in their defeat.
