King Valkyrie, portrayed by Tessa Thompson, is a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She first appeared in Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
Initially introduced as a scavenger on Sakaar, Valkyrie's backstory is revealed as a former member of the Valkyrior, Odin's elite force of female warriors. She was the sole survivor of a battle against Hela, leading to her self-imposed exile and heavy drinking.
Valkyrie joins Thor and Bruce Banner in their efforts to defeat Hela and save Asgard. Following the destruction of Asgard, she helps establish New Asgard on Earth in Norway.
