Black Canary is a vigilante from the Arrowverse TV show, specifically appearing in Arrow on The CW. The show features multiple characters who assume the mantle of Black Canary.
The first Black Canary introduced is Dinah Laurel Lance, portrayed by Katie Cassidy. She is a lawyer who fights crime in Starling City (later Star City).
After Laurel's death, the mantle is taken up by Dinah Drake, played by Juliana Harkavy. Dinah Drake possesses a true "Canary Cry," a sonic scream, unlike Laurel who initially uses a device to replicate the ability. Dinah continues to fight crime, honoring the legacy of the original Black Canary, and leads the team of vigilantes when Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) is not around.
The legacy continues through her actions in the Arrowverse, maintaining the spirit and crime fighting ability the character is best known for.
