Dinah Drake, portrayed across several seasons of The CW's Arrowverse, is a skilled vigilante operating in Star City as the Black Canary. Her backstory is complex, interwoven with trauma and a dedication to protecting the innocent.

Initially introduced as a detective working undercover within the SCPD, Dinah possessed a metahuman sonic scream, often referred to as a "Canary Cry." This ability, acquired through a particle accelerator explosion, makes her a formidable opponent in combat.

After Quentin Lance validated her actions and gave her the Black Canary mantle, Dinah joined Team Arrow, using her detective skills and powers to combat crime. During this time, she formed close bonds with her teammates, but also clashed with them regarding her increasingly brutal methods.

Dinah's past included a connection to Vince Sobel, a former love interest presumed dead but resurfaced as the vigilante Vigilante. This added considerable personal conflict to her mission and tested her resolve.

Throughout her time as Black Canary, Dinah grappled with her own internal darkness, striving to balance her desire for justice with the need to maintain her humanity. She eventually established her own team of vigilantes called the Canary's to help protect Star City.
