Within the Arrowverse on The CW, the mantle of Black Canary is held by several women, beginning with Dinah Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). Though a lawyer by profession, Laurel evolves into a vigilante inspired by Oliver Queen's Arrow.
Laurel's path to becoming Black Canary is marked by tragedy and determination. After her presumed death, she eventually returns, honing her fighting skills and adopting the Canary Cry, a sonic scream, via a technological device.
Later, after Laurel's death, Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) takes up the mantle. Drake possesses a natural Canary Cry, a metahuman ability. She becomes a key member of Team Arrow, developing her skills and fighting alongside her teammates to protect Star City. Dinah Drake first appeared in Arrow season 5, episode 10, "Who Are You?".
