Illyana Rasputina, also known as Magik, is a mutant character appearing in Marvel Comics. First appearing in *Giant-Size X-Men* #1 (May 1975) as a child, she later gained prominence in *Uncanny X-Men* and her own limited series, *Magik*. The "Marvel NOW!" version of Magik continues her established story arc.
As a mutant, Illyana possesses the ability to teleport herself and others across vast distances and even through time and dimensions. Her powers are intrinsically linked to Limbo, a demonic dimension where she spent a significant portion of her childhood.
While in Limbo, Illyana's mutant abilities manifested fully, and she learned sorcery. She also forged the Soulsword, a powerful mystical weapon made from a piece of her own soul. The Soulsword disrupts magical energies and can harm even powerful mystical beings.
Magik is often associated with the X-Men and New Mutants teams, using her powers to aid them in their missions. She struggles with the inherent darkness within her linked to Limbo, making her a complex and compelling character.
