Illyana Rasputina, also known as Magik, is a mutant character from Marvel Comics. She first appeared in *Giant-Size X-Men* #1 in 1975 as Illyana, and as Magik in *Uncanny X-Men* #160 in 1982.
During the Marvel NOW! era, Magik remained a prominent member of the X-Men. A powerful sorceress and teleporter, Magik's powers stem from her mutant ability to create teleportation "stepping discs" and her mastery of dark magic acquired in the demonic dimension of Limbo, where she was trapped as a child.
Her time in Limbo warped her, giving her a "darkchylde" form with demonic features and granting her the Soulsword, a mystical weapon of immense power. Magik struggles to control her dark side and her reliance on magic, constantly balancing her duty as an X-Man with the temptation of her immense power.
