Raymond "Ray" Palmer is a brilliant scientist and inventor who appears in the CW's DC television universe, primarily within the Arrowverse. He's portrayed by Brandon Routh.

Initially introduced in Arrow, Ray is the CEO of Palmer Technologies (formerly Queen Consolidated). He purchases the company, renaming it in honor of his late fiancée, Anna Loring, driven by a desire to do good for Starling City (later Star City).

Ray develops a powerful exoskeleton suit that grants him superhuman strength, flight, and the ability to fire energy blasts. He initially intends to use it to protect the city, adopting the superhero moniker "The Atom."

A crucial aspect of Ray's technology is his ability to shrink himself to subatomic levels. While his ability to shrink is a core element of the comic book Atom, it's not consistently or safely portrayed within the Arrowverse shows. He later joins the Legends of Tomorrow, traveling through time and further refining his abilities.

Ray is characterized by his optimistic, often quirky personality and genuine desire to help others. He develops romantic relationships with Felicity Smoak and later, Nora Darhk, daughter of Damien Darhk.
