Darth Nihilus is a Sith Lord from the Star Wars expanded universe, first appearing in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords.

Prior to becoming Darth Nihilus, he was a human male who survived the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator during the Mandalorian Wars, an event that caused immense destruction and loss of life at Malachor V. This trauma inflicted a wound in the Force, transforming him into a being of pure hunger for Force energy.

He was discovered by Darth Traya, who trained him in the ways of the Sith. Darth Nihilus eventually betrayed and defeated Darth Traya, solidifying his position as a powerful, yet unstable, Sith Lord.

Driven by his insatiable hunger, Darth Nihilus consumed the Force energy of entire planets, leaving them as lifeless husks. He wore a mask to contain his deteriorating physical form and relied on the Force to hold his body together.

Darth Nihilus was eventually defeated at the Battle of Telos IV, where his physical form was destroyed, ending his reign of terror.
