Atrocitus, a prominent figure in the DC universe's Lantern Corps mythology, is the leader and founder of the Red Lantern Corps. His first appearance was in *Green Lantern* #25 (December ),

Driven by immense rage and hatred stemming from the massacre of his people on Sector by the Manhunters, Atrocitus channels his emotions into the red light of rage. This rage fuels his power and allows him to wield a Red Lantern power ring.

Unlike other Lantern Corps, Red Lanterns are fueled by pure, unadulterated rage. The red light replaces their blood, making them driven by vengeance and destruction. Atrocitus, as their leader, seeks to inflict his pain on those he deems responsible for suffering and injustice across the universe.
