Guy Gardner first appeared in Green Lantern vol. 2, #59 (March 1968). He is a complex character in the DC Universe, known for his brash and often abrasive personality. Initially, he was created to be the Green Lantern before Hal Jordan. An industrial accident resulted in damage to his brain.
Gardner's anger and aggression eventually led him to become a Red Lantern. He was inducted into the Red Lantern Corps, fueled by pure rage.
