Doctor Octopus, often shortened to Doc Ock, is a fictional supervillain appearing in Marvel Comics. He first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #3 (July 1963), created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Otto Octavius was a brilliant physicist researching atomic radiation. He invented a set of highly advanced robotic arms controlled via a brain-computer interface to assist in his experiments. A lab accident during an experiment with radioactive materials fused the harness to his body, warping his mind and turning him to a life of crime.

The mechanical arms, controlled by his thoughts, grant him superhuman strength, dexterity, and the ability to manipulate objects with incredible precision. Doctor Octopus has become one of Spider-Man's most formidable and enduring foes, often serving as the leader of various villainous teams.
