Doctor Octopus, often shortened to Doc Ock, is a prominent villain in the Spider-Man universe. He first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #3 (July 1963), as created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Otto Octavius was a brilliant physicist working in the field of atomic research. A lab accident during a dangerous experiment resulted in an explosion that fused a set of robotic, tentacle-like arms to his body. These arms, controlled by his mind, granted him immense strength and dexterity.

Driven mad by the accident and the influence of the robotic arms, Octavius turned to a life of crime. He became known as Doctor Octopus, a formidable foe capable of matching Spider-Man's strength and agility with his mechanical appendages.
